Description

Ever stopped to gaze at a chirping mynah? Or watch the busy squirrel scramble with odd bits of paper to make its nest? Who says wildlife is contained in the bounds of a reserve forest or zoo? Here in our University we live every day with more than hundreds of plant varieties, insects, birds and animals. This October, our department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences endeavors to bring such forgotten and unnoticed elements of biodiversity to all of you, in the form of events, talks and activities.
Join us for a ‘Wildlife Walk’ where we display hand-made posters on current environmental issues and try to spread the message among our peers in the campus. Reach out through our ‘Awareness’ program where our students talk to the supporting staff and people in the campus to prevent the unnecessary killing of scorpions, garden snakes and wastage of resources like power, water etc.
The Wildlife Week also features wildlife photography and essay writing competition, along with a one-day event of games like Myriad, Shipwreck and Quiz, talks by eminent researchers/officials in the field of conservation and so on (dates to be announced shortly). Welcoming all of you to be a part of this initiative and get in touch with the nature-lover in you.
